O'neills latest creation, now in stock in limited numbers........5212 limited edition

O'neill have launched another industry first, Techno Butter neoprene. This new material looks and feels amazing, first impressions prancing round the shop in the new suit are that it feels like a thinner suit. The 5212 suit is super light, super stretchy and feels warm too. It is definatly the next level in wetsuit material and i think we will be seeing it alot more in suits coming from O'neill.
This new 5212 suit is now in the shop and available in very limited numbers and also at a special price, RRP for this is normally £299, but they few i have in here are at an unbeatable price £200 while stocks last!!

Area 52 Designers combined O’Neill’s innovative styling with the latest in wetsuit technology to create a timeless and limited offering that caters to core surfers and watermen

Features:

The 52-12 Features O’Neill’s exclusive Techno butter material. This is the latest evolution of neoprene technology. It boasts a 17% lighter formula with 30% less water absorption therefore quicker drying, with more stretch and less weight.

70% of the core of both suits, come with the exclusive Air Insulated Techno Butter neoprene giving unparalled warmth.

It also features coloured 1X Super Seam Weld construction, another O’Neill first. The Super Seam Weld uses 60% less material than the previous fluid seam, resulting in the most super light, super strong and super durable seam ever offered.

I want to go here sooooo bad...........

Pipe masters kicks off in amazing conditions..........today will be even better.....

The pipe masters kicked off yesterday (last night our time) in some big and heavy conditions, one standout was Jon Jon Florence, scoring a Perfect 10, he is current leader of the Triple Crown and will be a hot favorite for the event as he grew up surfing Pipe.
With round 3 due to start today, 6pm our time, it will get very interesting as the top seeds from the ASP tour start their Hawaiian campaign.
Check out Jon Jon's fist heat here and then get logged in to watch later today:

The Pipe Masters presented by Billabong are coming...........starts thursday 8th December

The final tour stop for the 2011 season is upon us, and although the title has already been decided, the prospect of Big Pipeline and backdoor is getting me excited! The forcast at the moment is calling for a substantial swell hitting on the opening day of competition:

The live broadcast of the event starts on the 8th December, this Thursday, but there is a time difference, 10hrs, so the live show will start from 7am their time so around 5pm our time. I think it will be well worth the watch, the worlds best competitive surfers going head to head in solid waves, also not forgetting the race for the Triple crown, which at the moment is being lead by Hawaiian son Jon Jon Florence, the wonder kid whose backyard is Pipeline!!
Here is a little clip taken on the first real swell to hit the North Shore this season.......enjoy

Hawaiian Triple Crown Kicks off ........

The Hawaiian Triple crown is one of the most anticipated competition series of the surf calender.
As previously posted the Reef comp at Heleiwa is the first of the 3, and this year they have added a bonus comp, the legends of Momentum.
Featuring Shane Dorian, Ross Williams, Kalani Robb and Rob Machado.
They were some of the main stays of Taylor Steeles first forages into Surf Movie making, i can remember watching these vids over and over again before going for a surf the next day, would get you fully hyped to hit the surf and try and copy some of the moves (still trying today!)
With a fast editing technique cut to some fast and furious tunes by the likes of NOFX, Sublime and The Offspring to name but a few, anyway check out the vid, Shane Dorian used to have hair!!!

    Before its over......its begun

The ASP have just released the schedule for the World Tour next year, and this years tour hasn't even finished yet, although you could argue that Ke11y has already put a lid on the tour for this year.
So here it is the schedule for the 2012 season:

    2012 ASP World Title Series:Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast – Australia (February 25 – March 7, 2012)
    Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach – Australia (April 3 – 14, 2012)
    Billabong Rio Pro – Brazil (May 9 – 20, 2012)
    Volcom Pro Fiji – Fiji (June 3 – 16, 2012)
    Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay – South Africa (July 11 – 22, 2012)
    Billabong Pro Teahupoo – Tahiti (August 16 – 27, 2012)
    Quiksilver Pro New York – USA (September 2 – 14, 2012)
    Hurley Pro at Trestles – USA (September 15 – 23, 2012)
    Quiksilver Pro France – France (September 26 – October 6, 2012)
    Rip Curl Pro Portugal – Portugal (October 7 – 17, 2012)
    Billabong Pipe Masters – Hawaii (December 8 – 20, 2012)

As you can see there i no search event this year, Rip Curl saying that they will be back in 2013 for a bigger and better search event, will wait and see on that one.
Also NYC stays in the schedule, they had good waves this year and i can see how it pulls more money and spectators in, but lets hope they good conditions for next year.
Rio is also a keeper for next season, seems that they are trying to bring surfing to the masses, as we can't all afford to get to Tahiti to watch the pros, or to the other new addition The Volcom event in Fiji, but at least a lot of the other locations on tour have a high populus near by.
There is also murmors of drug testing for next season aswell, this rang alarm bells for alot of the surfers. Some have been quoted as using steroids to increase their healing rates after an injury. So this could have some impact for some surfers.
All in all it looks like another interesting year for the worlds best surfers, will Ke11y come back for 12, maybe not, the marketing doesn't quite work, Ke12y, nah dont think even Quiks could pull that one off.
Will Bobby Martinez's rant become true, will the ASP dream tour turn into the dream tennis tour?
well its a few months off and don't forget we still have the triple crown of surfing to watch in the meantime, first event is the REEF event, which as usual will also have a Miss Reef Comp,
    http://vanstriplecrownofsurfing.com/reefhawaiianpro2011
and in the meantime the lovely Leila from reef will show you one of the hotspots near the comp........

    Revolution is coming..........

JS surfboards are releasing a new model.....the revolution. He is calling it his most advanced board to date for small waves.
The board was born from the very popular Blak Box model which is still his best selling board to date, it offers unbelievable performance in grovel waves up to over head.
The main differences between the Revolution and the Blak box is that the wide point has been moved forward and the rail volume reduced, this will give it a bit more bite from the narrower tail, better drive with the lower volume rails, so all in all a performance version of the Blak Box. I still think that the Blak Box will be the best option for summer and small waves in the UK.
As you can see in the picture above the other main difference is the addition of carbon patches, we have all seen the addition of the tail patches on the deck but the strip down the centre of the underside? JS states it is to stiffen the board through the mid section, but still allow the tail to flex. He also adds he has been using very different materials in the lamination of this board, which sounds like he has been focusing on the flex pattern of the boards more, time will tell.
In the meantime here is a little vid of Parko doing what he does on the latest model from JS, hopefully we will get our hands on one or 3 in the new year to try out, so watch this space for updates on when they are available.......

Glasfryn Wakepark Opens again for the season with a bang!!!

We will once again be supporting the Wakeboard Open at Glasfryn Wakepark this spring, see below for all the details,

    Spring Open at Glasfryn Parc

Glasfryn Parc Announce an Opening Season Competition and 3 New Features!

Glasfryn Wake Parc will host the Spring Wakeboard Open on the 2nd April 2011. The fun and grass root style contest is designed for all standards of riders and there will be 5 divisions to cater for everyone. Glasfryn Wake Parc will be cracking the champagne on their brand new wake park features! That’s right, not content with the awesome Relentless Leviathan and Kicker they have teamed up with Industry Wake Parks to create 3 new features. There will be 2 wall rides and a new flat bar!

The wall rides will be positioned to each side of the start dock on the smaller System 2.0 lake meaning you can hit the walls instead of turning around! This is the first obstacle of its kind in the UK and is only possible since the invention of the System 2.0. The walls will have stall pipes at the top so riders can either stall or ollie out of the top before re-entering the wall and continuing to ride. The new features mean Glasfryn Wake Parc will now have 2 System 2.0’s, The Relentless Leviathan, a kicker, 2 wall rides and a flat bar!

The Spring Wakeboard Open is a grassroots event which is aimed at all standards of riding, there will be five divisions; juniors (under 16), ladies, rookies, open men and wakeskate. The best crash of the day will also be awarded with a prize! Even if you have only just learnt to ride the Spring Wakeboard Open is for you. It is all about getting riders together and helping each other progress, learn new tricks and most importantly have fun and meet like minded people. What a great way to start the season!

Glasfryn Wake Parc will be open from 5th March 2011 and to make sure you can get your practice in, they have a special offer on for all of March, buy 5 rides and get 1 for free!

There will be evening entertainment at the Glasfryn activity centre which includes a bar, ten pin bowling and live music. The famous Glasfryn Go-Karts will open throughout the day along with a farmers market.

Glasfryn Wakeparc is the first wake park to open in Wales and opened in July 2010 and is part of Glasfryn Parc, a large activity centre on the A499 just outside Pwllheli, North Wales, and only is 15 minutes from Abersoch. During the Spring Wakeboard Open all of Glasfryn’s other activities will be available including their go karts, quad bikes, ten pin bowling, soft play centre, bar, cafe and a farmers market from 10am – 3pm.
